Construction Site Ice And Snow Melting Systems
Heat Mat offer a variety of specialist heating systems designed to allow construction and building work to carry on even in the coldest of weather. All of our systems have been designed in Scandinavia and many of them can be manufactured as bespoke units to match your individual requirements. Heat Mat outdoor heating mats are designed to thaw out ground ahead of construction work down to a depth of 200-500mm, and are also suitable for clearing already present ice and snow from the ground to allow ground work to go ahead. The mats are reusable so once one area is thawed they can be transferred to the next, and the standard mat covers 3m2 although larger sizes are available. The standard output of the mats is 280W/sqm and when this is combined with the 20mm of insulation on top of the heating elements this ensures a speedy warm up time. The systems are available in 110V and 240V models and a wide variety of connections can be incorporated in the factory to match your choice. In addition to ground heating they are also suitable for frost protection of sand for bricklaying, defrosting of drums and bales and clearing ice and frost from walkways and ramps. One of the issues with construction work in the winter is that concretes can often freeze before they dry/cure and this can prevent work going ahead onsite for sustained periods of time. Heat Mat concrete heating cables overcome these issues by providing controllable heat output directly into the concrete itself ensuring a smooth heat profile throughout the layer and preventing it from freezing. Each system is individually specified and is based around one of our cost effective 110V/240V/410V cables which are sacrificial; once their job is done they are left within the construction. In addition to preventing the concrete from freezing the heating cables do not cause the concrete to suffer from the problems of carbonation as can happen with enclosure systems. Many other Heat Mat systems are suitable for construction sites including our removable trace heating cables to prevent water and waste pipes from freezing and our loading ramp heating systems for situations where salt and grit are not suitable.
