A New Driveway Heating System For An Underground Parking Access Ramp In Ascot
One of our ramp heating systems has been installed this month at Millgate Home’s new Englemere development in Ascot, Berkshire.
Our specialist project team specified a robust driveway heating system for the slope down to the secure underground parking area.
The system includes a 50W heating cable, installed directly under hot asphalt at an output of 300W/m2 and a 48Amp frost protection thermostat.
Millgate Homes approached Heat Mat (following collaboration on a driveway heating project at Westbrook House, Ascot) with a brief to enable year-round resident access and improve safety in winter. Following on-site consultations Heat Mat proposed a system to heat sections of the driveway using external weatherproof cables.
Our new 50W hot asphalt cables were installed onto metal galvanized mesh, which was nail gunned to the concrete base with the cables then cable-tied to the mesh and finally tarmac poured above.
When the temperature drops, the FRO-48A-STAT dual zone thermostat will control the system and a FRO-GRO-SENS sensor will monitor the ground conditions. The heating will only be activated when the temperature drops below 3oC and moisture is detected in the air to avoid the surface of the driveway freezing.
The new development, of 17 lavish apartments set in 12 acres of grounds close to Ascot Racecourse, is due for completion in June 2016.
